Events

At TCF, we keep things busy year-round for our members. We have a number of regular events, including bi-weekly social gatherings, a monthly church service, and bi-annual retreats. Alongside these, we run a number of outreach events throughout the year, and seek to keep in touch with a number of churches and ministries so that our members can find the activities that suit their faith the most directly.

Here is a brief summation of our regular events:

Church in the Caf

Church in the Caf, or CITC as we call it, is our largest gathering. It takes place once a month, and is a full-scale church service involving our own worship band and a guest speaker. At this event we generally see over 100 members attend, including a mixture of age groups and people from across all different denominations.

One of the best aspects of CITC is the freedom we try to have in worshipping God. Because there are so many different backgrounds represented at the service, it is always the case that a number of worshipping styles are shown as well. We try to keep new songs coming along so that people can enjoy worshipping, although there are definitely crowd favourites that have emerged! And, of course, if you want something specific to be played at a future Church in the Caf, there's no reason why you can't ask the band members!

Fellowshipping Events

All of our social gatherings fall under this category. This year, we have been meeting on Friday nights to spend time with fellow Christians, strengthening our faith through fellowship and generally praising God for the world he's given us.

These events vary greatly. For example, one of the fun activities we hold is a coffee house, which involves a number of our talented members performing songs, poems, skits, and other stuff for the group as we mill about drinking warm goodness. On the other end of the spectrum, we're currently looking towards volunteering in a soup kitchen or some other similar activity for one of our Open Houses, to turn ourselves outwards-focused rather than inwards. Because of this variation, the term "Open House" really doesn't offer much except to unify what is really the biggest assortment of neat activities you can think of!

All of the Open Houses are planned by our Special Events coordinators, and they are most definitely open to suggestions if you want to fire them an e-mail!

Fall and Winter Retreats

Every fall and winter, our group takes off to the back woods to have a weekend retreat. These getaways are wonderful for new and old students alike. Because our members are maturing in their faith and attending the retreats completely of their own volition, the spirit is very different than the youth gatherings you might have experienced in high school.

Our retreats are a wonderful opportunity for growing to know one another better in a small group environment. More importantly, though, they offer a chance to learn directly about God through a topical study, and because everyone is taking their learning into their own hands on this type of retreat, the impact is huge on those who attend. If you're looking for refreshment in the middle of a hectic school year, you can't get any better than our fall and winter retreat.

These are also organized by our Special Events coordinators.
