Weekly Newsletter

January 9th, 2012

Hello TCF!

This is later than expected, but here it is: the last Weekly of Trent Christian Fellowship.

I hope you have all had an excellent Christmas break, and that you are ready to return to school. This Weekly will have a few announcements, so please read on!

As previously mentioned in the email regarding the vote, emails will be forwarded to the group in regards to events and ads up until April 30th, 2012. At that time the email address trentchristianfellowship@gmail.com will only be checked at irregular intervals.

I pray that you have a great semester, and thank you all for so many great years!

Because Jesus lives,

Sam (Former Communications Coordinator, Church Ambassador: Ferndale Bible Church)

Opening Sequence

Angelic Laughter:

Divine Reflection:

Inspired Word:

2 Corinthians 5:16-18

From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 18 All this is from God,who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation

News

Weekly Prayer Walk

Iwan, one of our members has stepped forward to help coordinate a weekly prayer walk. If you would like to join him, it will be every Thursday starting at 4:30. You can meet him at the entrance to Bata Library.

Church in the Caf

The next Church in the Caf is this Sunday, January 15th, at 8 pm in the LEC cafeteria. Glen Duncan (Kawartha House of Prayer, Church in the City) will be speaking this Sunday.
This Sunday is a time to praise God for his faithfulness to TCF and to Christians on the Trent Campus over the many years that it has been present. We will also be having some snacks and a slideshow at the end of TCF memories, so please send photos of TCF events or memories that you have to trentchristianfellowship@gmail.com. It would be greatly appreciated if you could do so by Saturday at noon. Thank you!

Testimonies and Prayer Requests:

Have a testimony (a short life story detailing some faith experience) or a prayer request that you would like to put before the community? If so, please contact us via email at trentchristianfellowship@gmail.com so I can send it to the group! If you wish it to be anonymous or to have only your first name sent out, just say so!

Bigger World

Volunteer @ the Bridge:

Hey there awesome TCF people!

Just want to let all of you know about a great opportunity to volunteer with Youth For Christ/Youth Unlimited here in Peterborough. We have programs for kids (ages 8-13) and youth (ages 14-25), so whichever group you relate to best is fine with us! Our goal for the youth we work with is spiritual transformation through Jesus, and we labour towards this end through various programs where we build relationships with kids, care for their needs holistically, build trust, and earn credibility to speak Truth into their lives. From there, we aim to funnel them into mentoring relationships (one-on-one and gender specific) and what we call “Places of Discipleship”, where they can grow deeper in their faith. If this sparks your interest, or if you have a passion for kids/youth and for serving Jesus in a tangible way, please get in touch with us. The children and youth of this city need role models LIKE YOU to take an interest in their lives and point them to the hope that is found in Christ! You can contact either Carlo Raponi at carlo@youthunlimitedkaw.com, or Becky Fahrun at becky@youthunlimitedkaw.com, or phone and ask for either of us at the Youth Unlimited office (743-2900).
For more information please go to: http://www.youthunlimitedkaw.com/.

A need has arisen at the Bridge for male mentors. If you are over 21 years of age, or are approaching it, we ask that you consider becoming a mentor to a young person. It requires you to volunteer your time for about an hour a week to meet with the youth and to talk to them, and build a relationship of trust with them. There is training required, but this is a very serious need, as the youth in downtown Peterborough need to know their Saviour and to have positive influences in their lives. There is currently a waiting list of boys who need mentors, so please seriously take time to prayerfully consider this. It is a one year commitment, and is life changing for both the mentor and the mentee.

All for Jesus!

Becky Fahrun

Opportunities to Serve:

Peterborough Northumberland Victim Services needs volunteers. You can help as a front-line crisis responder, or as support for victims going to court. Either one is a great chance to minister to victims of crime or family disputes, who need emotional support. To get involved, or for more information, email pnvs2@bellnet.ca, or call 748-0324.

The Kawartha Sexual Assault Centre needs volunteers for its 24-hour crisis line. They provide support to anyone who's been the target of sexual assault, harassment, or other victimization. To get involved, or for more info, email ksacvolunteers@nexicom.net or call 748-5901. NOTE: KSAC is currently taking female volunteers ONLY. Men, if you want to support victims of crime, talk to PNVS above.
